Why Complicated Migraine Should Be Treated Differently
Do you like this story?
The complicated migraine is not that complicated. But it is definitely one of the toughest in all kinds of migraine types.
It is well known that there are two type of migraine. Migraine with, or without, aura. The complicated migraine is a traditional description of a prolonged attack of the migraine aura type.
A normal migraine's aura could last 20 minutes to 1 hour, but a complicated migraine could prolong the aura to hours, even a whole day, which made the patient suffer longer times of nausea, vomiting, visual and sound disturbance comes during or after the aura.
A normal migraine would not harm the patient mind or body function permanently, but the complicated one prolong the time of the migraine attack, which poses unexpected harm to patient's mental health. In some cases, we have seen patient could not move his or her eyes, due to the nerves that support eye movement being paralyzed by the prolonged migraine attack. That is the reason why we say the complicated migraine may be the toughest of all kinds of migraine.
What's worse, this kind of migraine could grow severe that may cause long term neurological damage in the brain, which is rarely for a normal migraine attack.
It is still unclear what caused this kind of migraine, and different patient may have various triggers. Smoking, alcohol, stress and tension, or even sleep pattern changes could all induce the complicated migraine.
The only good news seemed to be is the news that this kind is not that hard to diagnose. Unlike cluster migraines and the atypical migraine, the symptoms of a complicated migraine is not that hard to make the right call. The patient could easily made the primary self-assessment at home and start using some migraine natural cure methods to control and prevent it from happening.
We do not recommend the patient of the complicated case to start using migraine meds on his own, he or she should go to the clinic or hospital, this type of migraine should only be evaluated and treated by professionals.
